I am a huge advocate for engagement sessions with my couples because it is an amazing opportunity to get to know each other and be more comfortable/prepared on your wedding day! There are already so many important things going on at your wedding that need your full attention: meeting me for the first time doesn’t have to be one of them! Engagement sessions are also an all-around fun experience that I think every couple should have as you get express your personalities together and create images that preserve this exciting time in your life!

Pick a theme

Let’s bring that amazing outfit that you’ve always wanted to wear out of the back of your closet! Obsessed with the 70’s? Daphne & Mateo planned their wild and carefree 70’s outfits to add a pop of color and fun to their Kauai beach anniversary session! Picking out clothes and accessories that resonate with you and your partner, or something funky and out of your comfort zone, adds a unique touch to your session and the resulting photographs!

Bring your pet

I’ll be honest and the first one to say that our 3 dogs are spoiled little babies, and they are an integral part of our family. So why not include them in your engagement session too! These photos always turn out precious and are so special to my clients. If you are worried about the stress of bringing your dog along, there are a few different things we can do mitigate that! Typically, if there is a dog involved, we will coordinate an extra person to come along to take care of your pup.  I have also coordinated sessions where we take all the dog pictures at the beginning, and then a friend can take them home as we continue. Or if your pup is exceptionally trained like Zion pictured below, they are more than welcome to stay the entire time! 😊

Plan a date night

And once we had wrapped up our session, they got to watch the sunset and enjoy their picnic together!
