I met up with Daphne & Mateo at Hanalei Bay in Kauai here in Hawaii to celebrate their anniversary.  One year ago, these Kauai locals tied the knot and they wanted to do a special session to commemorate the first of what is sure to be many years of marriage!

There is traditionally heavy emphasis on the importance of engagement and wedding photos.  Weddings are beautiful and such an important milestone in relationships, but that’s really only the beginning!  Marriage is a journey between two people who love each other through thick & thin. 

Daphne & Mateo eloped for their wedding, and they thought an anniversary session was the perfect way to celebrate!  After having met them and seeing them interact with each other, I can see how fitting that choice was for them!  These two were so loving and carefree during our session.  They genuinely enjoyed each other’s company and complemented each other so well! The poses we chose came naturally to them and I love that the shots we got showcase the love they have for each other.

Daphne works in hospitality while Mateo is in the environmental sciences field.  When you see them together, it’s clear they each met their match.  Speaking of environments, we couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful day for their Hanalei Bay session.  A seaside session was so fitting for a couple who radiates positive energy and happiness! 

They surprised me with a goodie bag full of local surprises which was totally unexpected and so appreciated!  These two were so sweet and such a joy to work with, I hope to see them again and again.
