As an engagement and wedding photographer, I’ve noticed several times that clients aren’t really sure what to do with the engagement photos once they’ve received their galleries.  Let’s talk about how to use your engagement photos!  These are a few of my favorite ways to put those beautiful images to good use.

Save the Dates

Engagement photos add a beautiful, personal touch to save the dates.  Send them out to your guest list not just so they can mark off your wedding date on their calendar, but give your guests a photo of the two of you to keep as a memento.  This one is particularly special for close friends and family, (especially parents!) to celebrate this monumental milestone.

Prints

The possibilities are endless with this one!  Prints can come in all sorts of formats, including traditional photos and canvases.  Imagine adding canvases of your photos to your wedding shower and then reusing them on the big day as part of your decor!   You can take those same prints and hang them in your home to really make the space your own.  After all, the whole point of investing in professional photos is to print them to have at your fingertips instead of having them collecting dust in the cloud.

Wedding Website

Wedding websites are new-ish innovations in the wedding industry but I personally love them.  The Knot makes it simple for couples to plug in their information to beautiful, easy-to-use templates to keep guests updated on all of the details of your ceremony from gift registries to hotel accommodations for the big day.  Guests even have the option of RSVPing through the website to help streamline your wedding planning process.  Showing off your engagement photos on the site is a great way to add a personal touch to the templates! (And let’s be honest, it looks pretty cool, too.)

Social Media

There are few things more flattering to a photographer than when clients use my images as their profile picture!  I definitely recommend sharing them with your friends and followers! It’s fun to be able to share these occasions, especially when you have friends and family spread out across the country.  Consider using the opportunity to create your own wedding hashtag so that guests can tag the shots they get at all of your festivities leading up to and including your wedding day!
