When it comes to weddings, I’ve seen it all in regards to décor and traditions. Some have come and gone while others are here to stay. Of everything I’ve photographed over the years of wedding photography, these are three of my favorite wedding trends that I hope are here to stay!
Floral arrangements lining the aisle tops this list. It adds such a touch of elegance without being over the top and it’s timeless. I’m sure we can all think back to trends of even the last ten years that haven’t aged well, but flowers aren’t one of them, especially done this way. Adding florals and greenery to the ceremony adds such a fresh feel and it’s beautiful. I have recently documented a wedding where the bride and groom lined the aisle with florals and it just takes the look of your wedding day up so much!

Next is a more recent trend that I’ve seen in several of the weddings I’ve shot and I hope it’s here to stay. We’ve all seen first dances time and time again, and those will also never go out of style. However, one of my favorites as of late is the last dance. I love getting a shot of just the couple at the end of the night after all of the guests have left the reception hall. There’s something incredibly romantic about the two of them swaying in the quiet stillness, soaking up the last few minutes of the day they diligently planned.
The last one isn’t necessarily anything new, but there has been a new twist on grand exits!
Grand exits are classic and some of my favorite photos to get from any given wedding day.
The exit shot of the bride and groom waving goodbye to their guests at the end of the evening or even the ceremony! Some cute exits I have seen — guests are asked to throw confetti, use sparklers, or blow bubbles as the bride & groom make their grand exit. These additions lend a whimsical touch that create a memorable shot. While we’ve moved away from brides leaving with rice in their hair, there’s just something so timeless about these shots! These photos are full of smile and celebration, both the guests and the beaming newlyweds.

Of course, these are not all of the wedding trends, but a few of my hands down favorites from this last wedding season!
All of these wedding trends have been so beautiful to document this year!
